Break the set. Now what?

Recently, I  took a trip with my good friend and architect, Vincent Martin Pinpin to Rebuilders Source in the Bronx.  I'd been meaning to check this  place out for months. His trip to the New York was  the perfect excuse to source cheap building  materials. We hopped on  the 2 train to  Jackson Avenue.  It's about 5 blocks south and 5 blocks east  of the subway stop...a bit of a haul, but  fun  nonetheless. $5 cans of paints, solid  wood  doors, light fixtures, cabinets...the list goes on.  

We had a great time talking to the super-friendly  staff.  Thanks to Jerome and Sonya, especially for  the yummy home-made bread.   We'll be back.

Rebuilders Source is a green worker-owned cooperative. They are community based and self-sustaining.  They work to create living wage jobs and alternatives to landfills and incinerators by selling used and surplus building materials.  Donate materials and in return you'll get a tax deduction.

PDN Photo Annual Party

Last night I headed out to the PDN Photo Annual party at the Tribeca Skyline Studios for cocktails and the awards. Per usual, it was hard to hear the presenters of the awards due to  all the  energetic conversations of people catching up with one another.  It is definitely a social event.  After the awards, the roof opened just in time for us to catch the sunset, grab a nosh of tuna tartare and one last drink. In one corner of the rooftop portraits of the crowd were being shot against the Manhattan skyline.
