PDN Photo Annual Party

Posted on 05/21/09 02:07 PM

Last night I headed out to the PDN Photo Annual party at the Tribeca Skyline Studios for cocktails and the awards. Per usual, it was hard to hear the presenters of the awards due to  all the  energetic conversations of people catching up with one another.  It is definitely a social event.  After the awards, the roof opened just in time for us to catch the sunset, grab a nosh of tuna tartare and one last drink. In one corner of the rooftop portraits of the crowd were being shot against the Manhattan skyline. It was a great night to catch up with:  Juliette Wolf-Robin  - Found, Brian Storm - MediaStorm, photographers: Hans Neleman, David Robin, Sari Goodfriend, Shannon Fagan, Jason Florio and Ben Lowy, agents: Bill Stockland and Maureen Martel – Stockland Martel, Howard Bernstein – Bernstein &Andriulli, Joe Lambardo – Artists and Creatives, Randy Cole - Randy Cole, Colleen Vreeland-Hedleston – Elizabeth Poje, Kristina Snyder – Snyder &Co, Matt Nycz – Brite Productions, Jasmine Defoore -Redux, David Laidler - Aurora, Thea Vaughan – Vaughan Hannigan, retouchers agent: Kate Chase,  art producers: Andrea Kaye – McCann Erickson and Lucy Raimengia- independent art producer, and consultants: Mary Virgina Swanson, Debra Weiss, and Allegra Wilde.

I also... Sarah Small

Posted on 06/03/09 01:36 PM

Yesterday, Sarah Small sent me a note letting me know that she is part of a group show of Polaroid-based artists curated by Marshall Kappel in Dumbo on Thursday. (Check Snap Indigo's Events section for further details.)

She went on to mention that she also has a record release the same evening for her Bulgarian a Cappella Quartet, Black Sea Hotel.

I find it refreshing and smart to for her to share her outside artistic endeavors with Art Producers as it gives us insight into her personality.

The Review Santa Fe 100

Posted on 06/11/09 08:27 PM

So I keep bumping into blog postings about Center's Review Santa Fe.   Specifically an interview with Jason Florio on PDNPulse and some pics from Ben Lowey on aphotoeditor.com.

It's worth taking a look at The Review Santa Fe 100. As a reviewer in 2006,  I still remember seeing Amy Stein's "Domesticated" work and Jessica Dimmock's "Ninth Floor" work for the first time. This review is by far my favorite.  Extremely well run with high-quality photographic projects.

Free Arts

Posted on 09/28/09 07:31 PM

I just received an e-mail about a benefit for Free Arts NYC this Friday.   Free Arts is an incredibly well run not-for-profit that runs arts programs for kids in the city.   I was involved in their mentor program for a few years and I loved every minute of it. Their ability to organize and effectively communicate their programming objectives created an inclusive environment where volunteers are valued, making the experience that much more enjoyable.  They are a great organization to work for and support!   Check out the event information.
